Just starting your fitness journey or coming back after an injury or surgery and worried that you could get hurt again? The most common predictor of injury in sport is a prior injury, Functional Movement Screens can actually predict whether or not you are at risk of hurting yourself again and they tell us what we need to fix to make sure that the risk is as small as possible.
The Functional Movement Screen FMS is a ranking and grading system that looks at movement patterns that are used in normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS quickly identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training, physical conditioning, and distort body awareness.

Dry needling offers a safe and effective method of treatment option to reduce pain and muscle tension, while simultaneously improving mobility. It has been proven to treat numerous musculoskeletal issues, including acute and chronic injuries, overuse injuries, neck pain, headaches, back pain, sciatica, muscle spasms, muscle strains, tendinitis, knee pain, hip pain, fibromyalgia, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and more. Also known as trigger point dry needling or intramuscular manual therapy, the treatment uses a dry needle — a needle without medicine — to deactivate trigger points in your muscle.
Dry needling is typically combined with other physical therapy exercises and techniques. And unlike acupuncture, dry needling focuses on trigger points in the muscle. Acupuncture relieves pain or discomfort by normalizing a patient’s energy flow.
The entire procedure takes as little as 15 minutes and there is a low risk of infection. After the procedure, patients typically experience pain relief lasting from a few hours to several weeks. While the side effects from dry needling are usually minor, patients can experience:
Bruising at the dry needling site
Fatigue or lack of energy
Soreness
Available only to current patients who have already been evaluated.

About 25 minutes, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a more advanced form of flexibility training. PNF involves both stretching and contracting (activation) of the muscle group being targeted in order to achieve maximum static flexibility. Physical Therapists use it to improve muscle elasticity and it has been shown to have a positive effect on active and passive range of motion.
PNF stretching has been proven to improve active and passive range of motion. It can be used to supplement daily, static stretching and has been shown to help athletes improve performance and make speedy gains in range of motion. Not only does it increase flexibility, but it can also improve muscular strength.
Multiple studies have shown that PNF stretching is superior to traditional static stretching in terms of improving range of motion. It is also excellent for targeting specific muscle groups. What’s more, PNF stretching is believed to prevent knots and realign muscle fibers and connective tissue after microscopic damage that typically follows a high-intensity workout.
